Budapest - Hungary

Had a magical weekend in Budapest, stayed on the Buda side (Budapest is actually two cities, Buda and Pest.)in a really cool area called Taban only a short stroll from either the Citadella or Castle Hill.

I was really worried about how cold it was going to be in Budapest, I needn't have it was way warmer than London! Who would have thought?

One thing that really amazed me about Hungary was the food (maybe its something to do with the name of the country ;) it was sensational the goulash, dumplings all fantastic and the wine was superb.

There was a lot of walking in Budapest to be done, managed to get around with using no public transport, no mean feat I assure you and saw the palace, old town, parliament, labyrinth, Margaret island, Market Halls, Citadella and floated down the Danube.

Budapest reminded me of pictures that you see of Serbia and Croatia. You can still see evidence of war on some of the buildings. The Citadella had a bunker fill of waxworks which was pretty informative about the part that Hungary has played in the two world wars.

Budapest is an amazing place to go for a weekend, although must admit some of the locals could learn some customer service, but all in all fantastic and I got to play with my new camera lots…..
